Analyses of field practices and didactic issues

In the past decades, there has been an evolution in the way Informatics and Information and Communication technologies have been considered in education.

The traditional opposition between computing as a teaching tool and computing as an object of teaching has weakened. After the introduction in schools of professional software like word processors and spreasheets, the extraordinary diffusion of Internet has put forward new types of applications, like search engines and various web services changing the way human beings interact. Those services raise new issues for the educational world. Simultaneously, the importance of informatics and ICT has been recognized by educational institutions and different policies have been launched in order to certify competencies or to launch new computing classes.

Since 2003, three francophone DIDAPRO conferences (2003, 2005, 2008) had been organized, aiming at analyzing, on the basis of research results, the consequences and opportunities linked to this context. Among the central issues studied has been how to implement curricula going beyond the mere training to the manipulation of a specific product distributed by a specific software company.

In october 2011 a new edition of DIDAPRO was held at the University of Patras (Greece) under a new title “Dida&STIC” (STIC standing for Sciences et Technologies de l'information et de la communication), which allows to better correspond to the recent evolutions. This archive presents the contributions to this conference.
