Le mouvement fictif à l'épreuve de la factualité : catégorisation des verbes et données de corpus

Abstract : The study of fictive motion in French set out in this paper is based both on a fine-grained semantic analysis of dynamic spatial verbs and on a sizeable corpus of examples. A categorization of French motion verbs is first introduced, which allows us to arrange these lexical elements according to their degree of dynamicity vs. staticness. 521 verbs are classified within the macro-categories, base categories and subcategories thus highlighted and then projected into the textual base Frantext (period 2000-2010) in order to extract the actual as well as fictive uses of these items. The remainder of the paper tries to compare the relative weight of the different classes of verbs in the descriptions of actual vs. fictive motion extracted from Frantext –at several levels of classification– and shows, among other things, the increased presence of predicates of lesser dynamicity in the descriptions of fictive motion.
